HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH SIGMA CHI?

I got involved with Sigma Chi in my first year of Greek life at their annual Derby days philanthropy event. This was when I got my first taste of the fraternity and their brotherhood; after having the best week ever with the coolest derby daddies (brothers chosen to coach a sorority to win in an effort to raise more money). I was super excited for a mixer with them almost a year later… this was when I was hooked. From there, I progressively became more present, supporting the fraternity and individual brothers in different ways. They created an environment for me based off of friendship and values that gave me a second home!

FAVOURITE PART ABOUT SIGMA CHI?

It is hard to only say one favourite part about Sigma Chi because each brother gives so much value. But if I had to choose just one, it’s the brotherhood. They are constantly supporting each other unconditionally and myself. My support for these men stems from this support I receive. Without expectations, whether I’m having my best or my worst day, they’re right there. Speaking from my experience in the Greek community, I find many organizations to be “clique-e” with the exception of this chapter. It amazes me how inclusive these men are, regardless of who you are.

ANY ADVICE FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN RUSHING?

Considering rushing a fraternity? You came to the right place, but don’t get caught up in the labels put on “frats”. My tip to you is to have an open mind and be interested in joining this organization because you genuinely feel a connection with these boys. Anyone can be a friend but brothers are sacred, people you want to have in your life forever. With this being said, you need to be your genuine self in order to build genuine connections and click on mutual interests. Lastly, don’t be shy. All the brothers you will meet were once in your shoes too, and want to get to know you as much as you do.
