ACADEMIC AND LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
ENRICH YOUR UNDERGRADUATE EXPERIENCE
One of the greatest aspects of the Sigma Chi Fraternity that is unmatched by other Ottawa fraternities and sororities is the wide range of leadership workshops, programs, and scholarships that we offer to our members. Our brothers are rewarded for their hard work and are given many opportunities to supplement their undergraduate studies with skills taught by alumni members who generously devote their time to develop tomorrow’s leaders.
HUNTSMAN'S LEADERSHIP SUMMIT (HORIZONS)
SIGMA CHI HORIZON'S PROGRAM
Horizons is a leadership development experience for qualified undergraduate Sigma Chis with at least two years remaining in college, and who wish to improve their understanding of leadership as it relates to personal development, group dynamics, and intentional efforts to make positive change in the world. The program is offered at no cost to the participants thanks to the generous support of the Sigma Chi Foundation and the Sigma Chi Canadian Foundation.
The Horizons program is held in an ideal setting for outdoor adventure, interactive learning, and inspired reflection. Participants begin their experiences through a series of reflective and thought-provoking questions in the application process, continue learning through pre-session readings, and then immerse themselves in whole-brain learning experience that engages their minds and bodies onsite in Snowbird, Utah. Finally, participants’ continue their Horizons experience through post-session mentoring by alumni and follow-up electronic leadership lessons and guidance.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS
Each year, generous donations make it possible for the Sigma Chi Foundation to grant numerous academic scholarships and awards to deserving Sigma Chi undergraduate and graduate brothers.
Providing scholarships and awards furthers the Foundation’s goal to promote academic excellence and lifelong learning. Brothers who show outstanding character in action, academic motivation, and commitment to their chapters and campuses are awarded scholarships for their efforts. There are also many scholarships to assist those with financial need.
Over the years, many of our brothers have been awarded such scholarships, including some of Sigma Chi Canadian Foundation’s most distinguished scholarships (John W. Graham Scholarship).
KRACH TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP
The Krach Transformational Leaders Workshop (TLW) is Sigma Chi's annual summer conference where undergraduate chapter leaders from the United States and Canada convene to learn and practice skills that they can implement at their home chapters during the upcoming academic year. Krach TLW is sponsored through grant funding by the Sigma Chi Foundation and the Risk Management Foundation.
